Week of November 20

Thanksgiving Break

There will be no school on Thursday, November 23rd or Friday November 24th due to the Thanksgiving break.

Nut Free School

As a reminder, Hyde-Addison is a nut free school. Please do not send any nut products or items made in nut oil to school. We thank you for your support in ensuring Hyde is a safe place for all students.

Auction Co-Chair Needed

The Spring Auction and Gala on March 3, 2018 is one of Hyde-Addison’s most wonderful events of the year.  As you can imagine, the PTA needs your help in making this event a success.  We are looking for one or two parent/guardian volunteers to Co-Chair the event with the Fundraising VP.  The responsibilities will range from soliciting donations, managing day-of activities, and working with volunteers on logistics, donations and event activities.  Please contact Bhavna Lee at bhavna.lee@gmail.com or 410-294-6855 to discuss the co-chair position. It is a lot of fun and we look forward to getting some great volunteers involved to make this night a success!

In an effort to ensure all students are complying with DCPS's attendance policy (which can be found here: ), phone calls will be made to guardians of any student absent without an excuse. To avoid those phone calls, please email hyde.addison@dc.gov with a reason each time your student is absent.

Morning Arrival

Just a reminder, doors open for all students at 8:20 AM.  Children may enjoy breakfast starting at 8:00 AM, as long as they are supervised by a parent and our guardian.  Otherwise, children are not supervised in the cafeteria until 8:20 AM.  If families wish for their students to be dropped off earlier, they must escort them into the building and stay with them. You may also enroll your child(ren) in before care if they need to be dropped off before 8:20AM.

Impact Aid Forms

Each student received an Impact Aid Survey form this week in their Blue Folders. The data collected from these forms determines how much grant money DCPS receives based on students connected to the federal government. Please return these completed forms as it’s important we receive one from every child! Here is a breakdown of how to fill out the form:

Box 1: Should always be filled out with student information

Box 2: For Civilians (not on active duty) – ONLY fill out if parent/guardian worked on federal property on Sept. 15th  (the date of the survey)

Box 3: For Uniformed Services -- ONLY fill out if parent/guardian was on active duty on Sept. 15th  (the date of the survey)

Box 4: For Foreign Military - ONLY fill out if parent/guardian worked as foreign government official or foreign military officer on Sept. 15th  (the date of the survey)

Sign and Date at the bottom.

Lost & Found

Please stop by the cafeteria to check out the lost and found for any of your students items. Any unclaimed items will be donated on December 21st.

Winter Show

Save the date for this year’s Winter Show on December 21st from 9-10am. More information about the program will be shared soon.
